A Little Bit About Our School...
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School is located on the south shore of Long Island, fifty miles east of Manhattan. It is nestled in the quiet scenic hills of Brookhaven Hamlet. It serves the communities of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø, Brookhaven Hamlet, East Patchogue, Medford and North ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø. These communities represent a broad spectrum of socioeconomic backgrounds and ethnic groups resulting in a student population which reflects the diversity of cultural influences in our world today. African-American and Hispanic students compose approximately 33% of the 1,400 students in grades 9-12. The availability of low-income housing and the historic charm of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø Village and Brookhaven Hamlet attract a wide array of families. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø's diversity is its strength. The multiple ethnicities of the community are celebrated throughout the year.
In response to the scholastics diversity of the student population, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School offers a full range of Advanced Placement and Authentic Research programs as well as many academic support services. The class of 2006 had one finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The Class of 2005 had 51% attending four-year colleges and 27% attending two-year colleges. Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, MIT and other prestigious universities offered placement to ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø's finest students. Also, all students are offered opportunities for occupational training through the BOCES Technical Training Programs
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø's academic programs are complimented by comprehensive co-curricular and athletic programs. Most students are involved in one of 26 club activities such as Gospel Chorale, Outdoor Club, and Peer Leadership. The CLIPPERS, ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø's varsity athletic teams, excel in sports such as Football, Track, Volleyball, Basketball, and other sports.
³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø High School's motto is "Strive for Excellence!" The students of ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø take pride in their school and support one another in all their endeavors. ³Ô¹ÏºÚÁÏÍø pupils are noted for their creativity, fortitude and generosity. Students provide service to their community through clubs, class activities and athletic teams.
